The aim here is to convey emotions and the realism of often painful personal stories, to give an account of the female condition in the Maghreb, to suggest possible means of defense for the protagonists in the face of the unacceptable, to bear witness to revolts in order to create the conditions for successful resilience.
There's something vertiginous about claiming to write about the countless struggles that so few men and women on our planet bring to light. I believe that theater is a powerful vehicle for freedom of expression. What route should I take through the evolution of my characters to renew the thread of these battles? How can I retrace the history of these men and women around the world? How do I approach all this? Quite simply, by allowing myself to go wherever my sensitivity, my curiosity and my need to understand took me.
For centuries, war has been one of the worst expressions of human violence. Millions of lives are lost. We live in a world where conflict and fighting have become a daily reality. Why so much hatred and violence? Why do we always seek power, control and domination over others? Why so much injustice, discrimination, poverty, oppression of women? Aggression and war are always tragic. Nothing can justify violent actions, ever. Despite this gloomy picture, I believe that peace is possible.
How can we become aware of our own prejudices? Perhaps by working together to resolve our cultural and religious differences? Perhaps by simply sharing the same humanity? Anything is possible! I'm convinced of it. I have led my characters along this path, towards successful resilience, towards a possible future thanks to love, to caring for each other.
