FITNESS AREA
As requested by Avignon resident Faiza Belazghari and built as part of the city's first-ever participatory budget, a fitness area allows you to exercise outdoors, in a verdant setting.
FITNESS TRAIL
780 m long, this signposted fitness trail features 4 apparatus for the general public, allowing everyone to exercise while getting a breath of fresh air.
BIODIVERSITY TRAIL
In the heart of nature, the Plaine des Sports site offers visitors a biodiversity trail covering a range of themes (a theme on the Mediterranean environment and flora, one on the wet riparian environment, reading tables on auxiliary insects, pollinators, site birds, etc.). Numerous insect hotels and nesting boxes for wildlife are installed and decorated (with organic paint) in collaboration with the Pierre de Coubertin school.
BALL GAMES AREA AND ATHLETICS RING
The existing soccer stadium has been turned into a landscaped ball-playing area, open to all. The athletics ring that runs around the perimeter can still be used for training, jogging and leisure activities... and a blue resin has been applied to almost 2370 m2.
SKATEPARK
A much-appreciated facility, the Plaine des Sports skatepark remains unchanged in its configuration, but its surroundings have been enhanced by landscaping, the installation of a water point and a public toilet cubicle, and the nearby development of a new pumptrack for board sports.
A campaign commitment by Cécile Helle, the Plaine des Sports skatepark is the first facility dedicated to this practice to have been set up in Avi- gnon. Joined in December 2015 by the Île Piot skatepark, they have both immediately found their audience.
PUMPTRACK
Popularized throughout Europe in recent years, pumptrack is a track featuring a succession of bumps and banked turns. Located in the immediate vicinity of the skatepark, pumptracks are accessible to everyone, regardless of age, and offer the opportunity to practice all kinds of sliding sports: BMX, scooters, rollerblades, skateboards, longboards and even children's bikes... At the Plaine des Sport skatepark, coloured markings delineate 2 courses according to level of difficulty (blue for beginners and red for occasional and experienced skaters).
PING PONG
Three ping-pong tables are located near the main square, the city-stadium and around the other racket games, so you can play for two or four!
RUGBY FIELD
The rugby pitch has been stripped of its long perimeter fences and fitted with brand-new galvanized steel ballscreens and blue netting, making it accessible to all.
CITY STADIUM
Larger than the city stadiums already installed in Avignon, this new facility features 2 "3-a-side basketball" courts, adjoining a multi-sports field. On this main area, equipped with handsets, it is possible to practice a variety of sports, such as basketball, outdoor futsal, handball...
BOULES COURTS
Near the brasserie, soon to be refurbished and opened to the public, an area dedicated to pétanque and boule lyonnaise is available.
HAPPY BOX
Unique in France, the Happy Box is a monumental intergenerational play area over 8 m high! Accommodating up to 60 users at a time, it features slides, trampolines, play areas (climbing, ladders, tunnels, free courses, three-dimensional nets, etc.), all on stabilized surfacing, to the delight of children...
