Harmas Jean-Henri Fabre Gardens

From the pleasure garden...
Following on from the visit to J-H Fabre's family home, a one-hectare garden with Mediterranean vegetation takes shape. A new pathway echoes Fabre's art of combining pleasure and biodiversity, which was innovative for his time. Thousands of plants, selected from the naturalist's writings, now enrich the flowerbeds. The fountain and pond, as well as the carefully furnished terrace, invite you to linger in this charming garden, whose domestic character has been preserved by the Museum.

... to the scholar's wasteland
In the "Harmas" itself, a part of the grounds that once resembled scrubland, the Muséum's gardeners have also preserved the spirit of the place by introducing species appreciated by insects, such as thyme and rosemary.
Along the way, visitors can discover four ingenious observation systems designed by J.-H. Fabre.
